As an Oreo lover, I realized I was missing an Oreo rice krispie treat recipe and knew I had to make my own version. These Oreo rice krispie squares are packed with chopped up Oreo cookies, and you can add white chocolate chips if you want even more sweetness.
Why You’ll Love These Oreo Rice Krispie Treats
- You only need 5 simple pantry ingredients, nothing too fancy here!
- This is a no bake recipe, so it’s easy to make and takes no time.
- You don’t need any fancy equipment or a stand mixer to make these treats.
- You can easily make them dairy-free so they’re perfect if you have food allergies.
Ingredients Needed

- Oreos: feel free to use whatever flavor of Oreo you like! I’m using regular Oreo cookies but you can switch it up.
- Butter: you can use regular butter or vegan butter.
- Marshmallows: you can use mini marshmallows or regular marshmallows.
- Vanilla Extract: try to use real vanilla extract if you can.
Step by Step Instructions

Step 1: Line a 9×9 baking pan with parchment paper, or grease the pan with butter.
Step 2: Roughly chop up the Oreo cookies and set them aside.
Step 3: In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat.
Step 4: Add in the mini marshmallows and stir with the melted butter until the marshmallows have melted. Add in the vanilla extract.
Step 5: Remove the pot from the heat and pour in the rice krispie cereal and chopped Oreo cookies. Stir quickly until combined.
Step 6: Pour the rice krispie mixture into your prepared pan. Sprinkle over extra Oreo cookie pieces and use a greased spatula to gently press down into an even layer.
Step 7: Let the rice krispie treats set for at least 10-20 minutes before slicing up into bars.

Expert Tips
- Feel free to add white chocolate chips! Add them in when you’re adding the Oreo cookie pieces.
- You can make this in an 8×8 pan but note that the bars will be thicker.
- Let the bars set for at least 10-20 minutes, otherwise they might fall apart when you try to slice them up!
- Use different Oreo flavors like peanut butter, golden Oreos, birthday cake Oreos, mint Oreos, or holiday Oreos!
Storage Instructions
Keep the sliced Oreo rice krispie treats in an airtight container for up to 3 days.

I just opened this recipe to make them for the second time. the first time they got eaten so fast, I even had a neighbour say, “I usually don’t care for rice crispy squares but these are really freaking good!” (direct quote haha)
so I’m back to make them for my son’s birthday!
Love this! Thank you for sharing!
In the notes, what does “the remaining 1 cup” refer to? Wasn’t I meant to add all 7 cups at once?
It means before you add your 7th cup of marshmallows. If using large marshmallows, you’d either want to add 1-2 cups at a time, as adding all 7 cups of large marshmallows at once may not fit in your pot and can also be quite difficult to stir and melt down. Hope this helps!
As someone who may not have bought marshmallows in, maybe, 50 years (wow!), may I ask if I’ll need to buy more than one bag of those little marshmallows to get to the 7 cups I’ll need for these treats? Thank you!
Hi John! Where I live a bag of mini marshmallows is usually 400 grams and you need 315g for this recipe, hopefully that helps!
