Why You'll Love These Oreo Donuts
- These chocolate Oreo donuts are yeast free and baked, not fried. They’re so easy to make and you don’t need any fancy equipment aside from a donut mold.
- The donuts are loaded up with crushed Oreo cookies and covered in Oreo glaze, so there's cookies and cream in every bite!
- The chocolate Oreo donuts are made with oil, this makes them super soft and moist.
- Oreo donuts can easily be made dairy free or with regular dairy ingredients!
Ingredients Needed
- Flour: I recommend using all purpose flour for these donuts.
- Oil: you want to use a neutral oil like sunflower oil, canola oil or vegetable oil.
- Milk: you can use regular milk or vegan milk if you’re dairy free!
- Butter: feel free to use regular butter or dairy free butter for the glaze.
- Oreos: you can use regular Oreos or a different Oreo flavor! Also did you know Oreos are vegan? So if you’re dairy free you can just use regular Oreos!
- Cocoa Powder: I recommend using dutch processed cocoa powder or black cocoa powder.
Step by Step Instructions
Note: Full ingredient measurements and instructions can be found in the recipe card at the bottom of this page.
Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350°Fahrenheit and lightly grease donut pans with cooking spray.
Step 2: In a mixing bowl combine the oil, white sugar and brown sugar. Add in the egg and vanilla extract, then whisk in the milk.
Step 3: Add the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda and salt to the bowl and mix until combined, being careful not to overmix. Stir in the crushed Oreo cookies.
Step 4: Fill up the donut cavities so they’re ½ way full. The easiest way to do this is squeezing it out of a ziploc bag.
Step 5: Bake the donuts for 7-10 minutes. The donuts are done when they spring back when you gently press your finger into them. Let them cool in the pan for a couple of minutes before transferring to a wire cooling rack to cool completely.
Step 6: Place a baking sheet under the wire cooling rack with the donuts. In a shallow box, whisk the icing sugar, vanilla, butter and milk together until smooth. Whisk in the Oreo crumbs.
Step 7: Dip each completely cool donut into the glaze. Add extra Oreo crumbs or small pieces of Oreo cookies to decorate and then let the glaze set.
FAQs and Expert Tips
I recommend adding the donut batter to a ziploc bag and cutting a corner off of it. That way you can easily pipe the batter into the pan!
I recommend using dutch processed cocoa powder or black cocoa powder! Black cocoa powder is a heavily dutched cocoa powder, making it much darker.
You need to make sure you grease your donut pan before you pipe the batter in, or else they will fall apart.
Yep! Use a mini donut pan if you prefer mini Oreo donuts!
Expert Tips
- I recommend using a kitchen scale to weigh out your cocoa powder and flour, otherwise you might add too much and have dry donuts! If you don’t have a kitchen scale, I recommend using the scoop and level method to measure out the flour and cocoa powder.
- Make sure the Oreo donuts are completely cool before you dip them in the glaze.
- Feel free to swap out regular Oreos for fun seasonal flavors, or even peanut butter Oreos, mint Oreos, or birthday cake Oreos!
- Be careful when piping the batter in, you don’t want to pipe in too much or the donut batter will overflow when baking.
- Place a baking sheet or parchment paper under the wire cooling rack when you glaze the donuts, this will catch any icing drips.
Storage and Freezing Instructions
These Oreo donuts are best enjoyed on the same day as baking. If you need to store them you can place them in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
You can also freeze them by wrapping them tightly in plastic wrap then placing in a freezer ziploc bag. Thaw at room temperature when ready to enjoy!

Oreo Donuts
Equipment
Ingredients
Oreo Donuts
- ¼ cup light brown sugar
- ⅓ cup white sugar
- ¼ cup sunflower oil (or other neutral oil)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 egg
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- ⅓ cup cocoa powder
- ⅛ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon baking powder
- ½ cup milk (regular or dairy free)
- 4 Oreo Cookies, crushed into crumbs
Oreo Glaze
- 1⅛ cup icing sugar (powdered sugar) (regular or dairy free)
- ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3 Tablespoons milk (regular or dairy free)
- 1½ Tablespoons butter, softened (regular or dairy free)
- 3-5 Oreo cookies, crushed up and crumbled (plus more chunks on top)
Instructions
Chocolate Donuts
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and lightly grease donut pans with cooking spray. This recipe makes roughly 9-10 donuts.
- Add oil, white sugar, and brown sugar to a mixing bowl and whisk together until combined. Mix in the egg and vanilla extract, then whisk in the milk.
- Add flour, cocoa powder, salt, baking powder, and baking soda to the bowl and mix until combined. Do not over mix. Stir in the crushed Oreo cookie crumbs.
- Fill the donut cavities ½ way full with batter. I recommend squeezing the batter out of a ziploc bag to make it easier. To do this, add the batter into the ziploc bag, then cut the corner off of the bag and pipe the batter into it.
- Bake for 7-10 minutes, or until the donuts spring back when you gently press your finger into them or a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Let cool in the pan for a few minutes then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Place a large baking sheet under the wire rack (or a piece of parchment paper), to avoid making a mess once the donuts are glazed.
Oreo Glaze
- Add all the glaze ingredients (minus the Oreos), into a shallow bowl and whisk until smooth, adding more icing sugar as needed. Whisk in the Oreo crumbs.
- Dip each completely cooled donut into the glaze to coat the top. Add Oreo crumbs and small pieces of Oreos for decoration, then let sit until the glaze has set. Enjoy!
